Tree Trimming
Branches over the roof, scraping the siding, blocking the driveway or crowding the wires. Tree trimming cuts that growth back so your yard is usable and your house is clear. We trim for homes and businesses and bring a bucket truck when the job needs one.
Clearing the house and roof
Limbs that hang over a roof drop leaves and sticks into the gutters, rub the shingles when the wind blows and give squirrels a bridge onto the house. We cut them back to a clean point on the branch so the roof is clear and the tree still looks like a tree.
Driveways, walkways and sight lines
Low branches catch the tops of trucks, drip on cars and hide the end of the driveway when you pull out. We raise the lower canopy so you can walk, park and see the road again, and we haul away what we cut.
Overgrown trees and tight yards
Some trees simply get too big for the spot they were planted in. Crown reduction brings down the height or spread of the top, and shaping evens out a lopsided tree. On tall trees and in tight yards, our bucket truck lets us reach the work without dropping limbs on the house.

In New Jersey
Wind, snow and New Jersey trees
New Jersey gets heavy wet snow in winter and strong wind from nor'easters and tropical storms. Long limbs reaching over a house carry the most weight and catch the most wind, so they are often the first to crack. Trimming them back before storm season gives the tree less to lose.
Near power lines
Never trim branches that touch or are close to power lines yourself. Call your power company first. For branches near the line running to your house, ask your power company what they will handle and ask us at your estimate.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
- How much does tree trimming cost?
- It depends on the size of the tree, how many limbs need to come off and how hard they are to reach. A few low branches over a driveway is a much smaller job than cutting back a tall oak over a roof. Call or use the form for a free estimate so you know the price before we start.
- Can you trim branches hanging over my roof?
- Yes. This is one of the most common jobs we do. We cut the limbs back to a clean point and lower heavy pieces carefully so nothing lands on the roof. Our bucket truck helps when the branches are high or the yard is tight.
- What is the difference between trimming and pruning?
- People use the words for the same thing all the time. On our site, trimming means cutting back growth to clear your house, driveway or yard. Pruning means choosing specific branches to take off for the health and structure of the tree, such as dead, crossing or weak ones. Many jobs need some of both. See our tree pruning page for more.
- Can you trim my neighbor's branches hanging over my yard?
- We can talk it through at your estimate. It is a good idea to speak with your neighbor first, since the tree belongs to them and cutting too much from one side can hurt it. If the tree is in a town right of way or near a street, your town may have its own rules, so check with them too.
- Is trimming enough, or does my tree need to come down?
- If the tree is healthy and the problem is a few branches, trimming is usually enough. If it is dead, split or leaning badly, removal may be the safer choice. Cutting too much off a weak tree can make things worse, so we will tell you honestly at your estimate.
